A little about me

I am Sharilyn Bean.  I am 42 years old and have been working with kids most of my life.  As the 2nd of 6 kids, I started baby sitting for my family, friends, and neighbors at a young age.   In middle school and high school, I baby sat for lots of different families sometimes with regular consistent summer jobs.  I worked with all ages from newborn to age 12 sometimes watching as many as 12 kids by myself at once.  

My husband Tom and I have been married for 22 years we have 5 children ranging in age from 9-20.   We all enjoy spending time as a family!  We love playing games, visiting parks, camping, visiting extended families, and watching movies together.  We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where I currently work as a leader for the nursery aged children (ages 18 months - 3) and the younger boys activities (ages 7-11).

I love teaching preschool!  I started college working toward a degree in elementary education.  I liked my classes, but discovered early that I preferred working with preschool aged kids.  Following the advice of a counselor, I switched my degree to Spanish, but continued to take early childhood education classes.  I graduated from Ricks College with an associates degree in Spanish with an intent to finish an education degree some day.

After graduation, I worked at the University of Idaho Children's Center in the preschool room while my husband worked toward his degree in Mechanical Engineering.  I completed a center based daycare/preschool certification program while there and took many more education classes to work towards an elementary education degree which I would still love to finish some day.

After starting to have kids, I did in home day care and preschool for a few years until my husband completed his Masters Degree.  I am not currently licensed, but I have been in the past. I want to keep the class size small and the cost down so I am not willing to pay the fees associated with licensing.

Other related experience includes: Daycare worker at Bipity Bopity Boo Daycare in Sequim, WA; Lead teacher at Migrant Head Start in St. Anthony ID; Mother of 5 ages 8-19; and 7 years teaching the 3 year old class at church.
